Wild Facts Wild Fakta

I know we spent all of last week in the water but I couldn't resist taking another trip back to the ocean. Jeg vet vi tilbrakte hele forrige uke i vannet, men jeg kunne ikke motstå å ta en tur tilbake til havet. Besides I wanted to illustrate that hybrid animals don't just live on land.  Today we have the cross between a bottlenose dolphin and false killer whale.  Naturally, they decided to name it the Wholphin. Dessuten Jeg ønsket å illustrere at hybrid dyr ikke bare leve på land. I dag har vi krysset mellom en Tumlar og falsk spekkhoggersafari. Naturligvis, bestemte de seg for å gi den navnet på Wholphin.

This is a rare hybrid species but they have been reported to occur in the wild. Dette er en sjelden art hybrid, men de har vært rapportert å forekomme i naturen. Currently there are only two Wholphin's held in captivity. Foreløpig er det bare to Wholphin er holdt i fangenskap. Both of them can be found at the Sea Life Park in Hawaii. Begge kan bli funnet på Sea Life Park i Hawaii. Unlike the other hybrids discussed the creation of the wholphin was more of an accident.  It just so happened that a female bottlenose was sharing a tank with a male false killer whale. I motsetning til de andre hybridene drøftet opprettelsen av wholphin var mer av en ulykke. Det bare falt seg slik at en kvinnelig bottlenose delte en tank med en mannlig falsk spekkhogger. As you can imagine the trainers were surprised to see the hybrid.  They were even more surprised when the wholphin produced her own offspring proving that she was fertile.  Unfortunately, it took three tries before she was able to produce a calf that was healthy enough to survive the harsh world.  In fact, it was so healthy that only a few months after birth it was the size of a one year old dolphin. Som du kan forestille kurslederne var overrasket over å se hybrid. De ble enda mer overrasket når wholphin produserte sine egne avkom bevise at hun var fruktbar. Dessverre tok det tre forsøk før hun var i stand til å produsere en kalv som var friske nok til å overleve den barske verden. The appearance fo the wholphin can vary depending on the parents but generally it appears to take the middle ground.  For example, one of the captive wholphins has 66 teeth which is between both parents. Utseendet for wholphin kan variere avhengig av foreldre, men generelt det ser ut til å ta middelvei. For eksempel har en av de sikrede wholphins 66 tenner som er mellom begge foreldrene. Her dad, the false killer whale, has 44 teeth while her mom, the bottlenose dolphin, has 88 teeth. Hennes far, den falske spekkhoggeren, har 44 tenner mens hennes mor, den Tumlar, har 88 tenner. I guess wholphins just walk the line and don't want to upset anyone by taking a stance. Jeg antar wholphins bare gå linjen og ikke ønsker å uroe noen ved å ta et standpunkt.
