I know we spent all of last week in the water but I couldn't resist taking another trip back to the ocean. Eu sei que passamos toda a semana passada na água, mas não consegui resistir a mais uma viagem de volta ao oceano. Besides I wanted to illustrate that hybrid animals don't just live on land.  Today we have the cross between a bottlenose dolphin and false killer whale.  Naturally, they decided to name it the Wholphin. Além disso, eu quis ilustrar que os animais híbridos não apenas viver na terra. Hoje nós temos o cruzamento entre um golfinho e baleia assassina falso. Naturalmente, eles decidiram chamá-lo de Wholphin.

This is a rare hybrid species but they have been reported to occur in the wild. Trata-se de uma espécie rara híbridos, mas eles têm sido relatadas para ocorrer na natureza. Currently there are only two Wholphin's held in captivity. Atualmente, existem apenas dois Wholphin, realizada em cativeiro. Both of them can be found at the Sea Life Park in Hawaii. Ambos podem ser encontrados no Sea Life Park no Havaí. Unlike the other hybrids discussed the creation of the wholphin was more of an accident.  It just so happened that a female bottlenose was sharing a tank with a male false killer whale. Ao contrário dos outros híbridos discutida a criação do Wholphin foi mais um acidente. Aconteceu então que uma garrafa do sexo feminino foi a partilha de um tanque com uma orca macho falso. As you can imagine the trainers were surprised to see the hybrid.  They were even more surprised when the wholphin produced her own offspring proving that she was fertile.  Unfortunately, it took three tries before she was able to produce a calf that was healthy enough to survive the harsh world.  In fact, it was so healthy that only a few months after birth it was the size of a one year old dolphin. Como você pode imaginar os treinadores ficaram surpresos ao ver o híbrido. Ficaram ainda mais surpresos quando o Wholphin produziu sua própria prole, provando que ela era fértil. Infelizmente, ele teve três tentativas antes que ela foi capaz de produzir um bezerro que era saudável o suficiente para sobreviver no mundo áspero. Na verdade, ele era tão saudável que apenas alguns meses após o nascimento era do tamanho de um golfinho de um ano de idade.

The appearance fo the wholphin can vary depending on the parents but generally it appears to take the middle ground.  For example, one of the captive wholphins has 66 teeth which is between both parents. O aparecimento de Wholphin pode variar dependendo dos pais, mas em geral parece ter uma posição intermediária. Por exemplo, um dos wholphins cativeiro tem 66 dentes, que está entre ambos os pais. Her dad, the false killer whale, has 44 teeth while her mom, the bottlenose dolphin, has 88 teeth. O pai dela, a falsa baleia assassina, tem 44 dentes, enquanto a mãe, o golfinho, tem 88 dentes. I guess wholphins just walk the line and don't want to upset anyone by taking a stance. Eu acho que wholphins apenas andar na linha e não queremos atrapalhar ninguém por tomar uma posição.
