So, I am back from holidays and probably need another vacation to recover from the excitement over the last two weeks. Så jag är tillbaka från semester och behöver antagligen en annan semester att återhämta sig från spänningen under de senaste två veckorna. Now that everything is back to normal, lets get onto Wild Fact #880 which will be about one of my favourite animals. Nu när allt är tillbaka till det normala, lets get på Wild Fact # 880 som kommer att bli om en av mina favorit djur. The Mountain Gorilla is a large animal that can weigh between 100 to 200 kg (220-440 lbs). The Mountain Gorilla är ett stort djur som kan väga mellan 100 till 200 kg (220-440 kg). Believe it or not the gorilla is thought to be very intelligent, which has often been compared to dolphins and humans. Tro det eller ej gorilla anses vara mycket intelligenta, som ofta har jämförts med delfiner och människor. Surprisingly the mountain gorilla is actually a calm, gentle, social and peaceful creature.  They are mainly vegetarians and if you were to watch their young you would think you were watching your kids play in the backyard.  There is a huge misconception of the gorilla standing tall and pounding his chest while roaring into the darkness of the forest.  The leader of the group, which is often a mature, strong male called a silverback, will portray this image while protecting their group.  As well, they will display this behaviour if they get excited but this reputation does not define all mountain gorillas. Överraskande bergsgorillorna är faktiskt en lugn, mjuk, sociala och fredligt djur. De är främst vegetarianer och om du skulle se sin unge du tror du ser dina barn spela på gården. Det finns en stor missuppfattning av gorilla stående lång och bultande bröstet medan dånande in i mörkret i skogen. Ledaren för gruppen, som ofta är en mogen, stark manlig kallas en Silverback kommer skildra denna bild och samtidigt skydda sin grupp. Vad bra, kommer de att visa detta beteende om de får upphetsad men detta rykte inte definiera alla bergsgorillor. Don't get me wrong, I still don't recommend going up and trying to pet a wild gorilla.  I am just saying that they are actually a very peaceful, social animal that needs to be respected and admired. Don't get me wrong, jag fortfarande rekommenderar inte att gå upp och försöka klappa en vild gorilla. Jag säger bara att de verkligen är en mycket fredlig, socialt djur som måste respekteras och beundras.

Unfortunately some people admire them too much and continue to poach them since they consider the silverback to be a trophy. Tyvärr vissa människor beundrar dem för mycket och fortsätter att föra bort dem eftersom de anser att Silverback som en trofé. Then there are the people that don't care and simply destroy their habitat. Sedan finns det människor som inte bryr sig och bara förstör deras livsmiljö. For these reasons the mountain gorilla is considered to be endangered with only 600 to 800 of them remaining in the wild. Av dessa skäl bergsgorillorna anses vara hotade med endast 600 till 800 av dem kvar i det vilda. The good news is that in 1991 a coalition called the International Gorilla Conservation Program (IGCP) was formed which assists in protecting these gorillas as well as their ever important habitat. De goda nyheterna är att under 1991 en koalition som kallas International Gorilla Conservation Programme (IGCP) bildades som hjälper till att skydda dessa gorillor och deras väldigt viktig livsmiljö. It is believed that the population of gorillas is steady and may even be on the rise but as usual there is a constant battle between humans and animals. Man tror att befolkningen i gorillorna är konstant och rentav kan vara på uppgång men som vanligt finns det en ständig kamp mellan människor och djur.
