Like people, there are animals that are either really nice, or docile, or just really mean. Aggressiveness is one thing, but pair it with an ill-temper and you’ve got an animal that you should steer clear of, or at least try not to provoke and just look at from afar. These animals are considered not only the most dangerous, but they are also the meanest in the world. They have a tendency to go crazy and come after anything or worse, anyone, at any time, any place, and what’s scary is that some of these animals can even chase you down. You’d be surprised to see a few of these.

1. Hippopotamus

"hippopotamus"

They are herbivores in nature, so they don’t eat any meat. But contrary to the belief that they may be gentle creatures, they are one of the meanest in the world. Hippos are extremely territorial animals and can come after anything that can intrude in its territory. Also, just because it’s a large animal doesn’t mean it’s slow or anything. The males are generally mean, but the females are only mean because they are very protective of their little ones. Hippos can also run as fast as humans as well, and have been the cause of death of more people in Africa than any other animal. How’s that for mean?

2. Rhinoceros

"rhinoceros"

Rhinos are not only dangerous, but they are also endangered. The black rhino is, among all the species of rhino, the most dangerous. They get ill-tempered around other humans and other creatures, and they are also very protective of their little ones as well. If they sense something as a threat, they will not hesitate to go at them as well.

3. Indian Cobra

"indian

The most famous venomous snake in all of India, the Indian cobra is also one of the meanest, and is among the Big Four of snakes. It means that the Indian cobra is one of the four most dangerous snakes in the world, and is responsible for the highest number of incidents and deaths via snakebite in Asia. Oh, and their venom acts fast, killing the victim in less than an hour.

4. Moose

"moose"

Moose are part of the deer family, and are the largest members. But, unlike their fellow deer or stag, they are anything but friendly. Second to the hippo, moose have managed to attack more humans than any other wild animal. They are at their most aggressive when it’s mating season in the fall, which as you all know, is when they all start shacking up and making babies, because that’s when their hormones are high.

5. Polar Bear

"polar

Do not be fooled by their cute and fluffy exterior – they are mean, really mean. It doesn’t have any natural predators, and while they only usually eat seals and fish, they are not afraid to sink their teeth into anything that is just as meaty.

6. Wild Boar

"WILD

As implied in its name, the wild boar is, well, it’s just that: wild, as well as mean. So don’t expect it to be friendly when it has a tendency to be aggressive at any time. They are at their most dangerous when its rutting season, probably because, like the moose, their hormone levels are high.

7. Saltwater Crocodile

"Saltwater-Crocodiles"

One of the largest reptiles on the planet, and are also most likely to gobble up a human, in which case they must have but it is rare. Still, the saltwater crocodile is also very good at hunting its meal, as it tends to ambush its prey by disguising themselves well. It’s still good to steer clear of this creature, however.

8. Cape Buffalo

"cape

They don’t look aggressive, but they are fighters. The Cape buffalo, or also known as African buffalo, are very unpredictable when they are provoked, and can attack when they are, mostly by either goring or trampling on them, as an adult buffalo can weigh up to 2 tons.

9. Lion

"lion"

Ah yes, the so-called “King of the Jungle”, or “King of the Animal Kingdom” but sadly, they aren’t like Mufasa or Aslan. Lions are usually known to just kill whatever comes their way, but they have also been known to maul and even kill humans, especially when they know they’re running out on their usual prey, and when they are sick.

10. Box Jellyfish

"box-jellyfish"

In the ocean, there lies a meanie called the box jellyfish. The box jellyfish, also known as the sea wasp, is also the most venomous sea creature, with the venom from a single box jellyfish being enough to kill about 60 adult humans. Oh, and they are quite the active hunters too, so it is best to steer clear of these jellies.

11. Sun Bear

"sun

Don’t be fooled by its small stature, the sun bear is absolutely vicious. It’s not friendly at all and can attack humans even without being provoked, meaning; it can go absolutely cray at any time, especially when they are protecting their little cubs. Oh well, they already aren’t very well-liked in the animal kingdom, they might as well not be well-liked everywhere else.

12. Least Weasel

"least

This animal literally gives meaning to the phrase “small but terrible”. The least weasel is the smallest carnivore and is one hell of a fighter. They are capable of attacking an animal five times their size and are also quite the territorial creatures, attacking any animal that happens to intrude in their space.

13. Common Shrew

"Common

If someone calls you a shrew, it’s an insult. The common shrew is another small but terrible meanie in the animal kingdom. Why are they mean, you ask? Well, it’s because they have a very high metabolism and therefore are always hungry, are always hunting. They can even produce venom with one bite into their prey, despite normally just crushing the base of their prey’s skull.

14. Wolverine

"wolverine"

While we previously mentioned the smallest weasel, now we’re talking about the biggest. The wolverine (not the mutant), is another meanie in the animal kingdom, and is the largest member of the weasel family. They are extremely dangerous and aggressive creatures, capable of taking down animals that are larger, like bears for example, and without hesitation. They also don’t hibernate, so that means they can go on a killing spree all year round.

15. Bull Shark

"bull-shark"

If you listen carefully, you can hear the Jaws theme playing upon seeing a photo of this dangerous predator. The bull shark is the worst shark ever, being insanely aggressive and have a crazy strong bite too. Bull sharks are responsible for attacking more humans because they mostly inhabit the frequently populated parts of the ocean. Oh, and did we mention that they can also adapt to freshwater? Yikes.

16. Northern Goshawk

"northerngoshawk3"

Among the fellow bird-eating hawks that live in the forests, the northern goshawk is perhaps the most dangerous of them all. They are extremely territorial and will take down any thing that invades their space or poses even the slightest threat, with their huge talons.
