<\/a><\/p>\n I know this is a website dedicated to animal facts but I wanted to pass along a story that I read from August 22, 2009.\u00a0 I think it shows the effects of climate change in a big way.<\/p>\n Two German ships set off on Friday on the first commercial journey from Asia to western Europe via the Arctic<\/a> through the fabled Northeast Passage <\/a>\u2013 a trip made possible by climate change. Niels Stolberg, president and CEO of Bremen-based Beluga Shipping<\/a>, said the Northern Sea Route will cut thousands of nautical miles off the ships\u2019 journey from South Korea to the Netherlands, reducing fuel consumption and emissions of greenhouse gas.
